The SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills is the first in a new chain of hotels part of SBE’s Luxury Collection, and simply calling it luxurious is a bit of an understatement. SBE CEO Sam Nazarian has done it again, using another one of Philippe Starck’s (Katsuya) inspired design concepts to create an elegant, sophisticated atmosphere for this Stylish, Luxurious, Service-oriented new hotel. Some of the amenities the SLS offers include a customized Smartphone application for off-site reservations and requests, the Altitude pool deck with amazing views of Beverly Hills and fully-loaded private cabanas, and two restaurants by world-renowned Spanish chef Jose Andres. Sam Nazarian has already used Prescriptive Music’s services at The Redbury Hotel as well as at the Abbey, Katsuya, and XIV so the programmers felt extremely privileged to have the opportunity to design the sonic vibe for SBE’s latest venture.
The guest entrance and lobby are embellished with giant, ornately potted plants and mirrors accented by warm wood tones and white and gold overstuffed chairs, all coming together to create a distinct atmosphere of comfortable luxury. The lobby opens into the SLS’ private restaurant, Tres, and the two spaces share the same chic, European vocal lounge, electronic, and alternative musical vibe lending to a cool and casual yet cultured environment. Every guest room at the SLS has its own individual style and impeccable décor, and the sixth floor is home to the Altitude Pool Deck, which is enclosed with large frames of varying sizes through which guests can gaze at unique views of Los Angeles. The aural texture at the pool features cool, well-known hits from the 60s on, providing a relaxed, familiar vibe for the guests while they treat themselves to the private minibar, TV and DVD player in each of the seven private poolside cabanas.
The SLS is also home to one of the hottest new places to eat in LA, Jose Andres’ Bazaar. This restaurant is also a bar, a patisserie, and a retail shop, effectively representing its name and even going so far as being bizarre, with its eclectic and colorful interior design, roaming fortune tellers, and cotton candy vendors. Jose Andres is widely credited for bringing Spanish tapas to America, so it is only natural that the Bazaar’s Rojo Y Blanca menu features small plates of traditional tapas, jamon y queso and fruits. Saam’s menu provides a more private and elegant atmosphere and an innovative, multi-course tasting menu. The signature snacks and cocktails from Bar Centro perfectly complement any item from the menu, and the up-tempo electronic beats and mainstream chart hits complete the whole experience, providing guests with a lounge feel of subtly casual elegance.
The success of all his other ventures makes it undeniably clear that Sam Nazarian knows what he’s doing in the restaurant and hospitality business. And with the opening at Beverly Hills, the SLS chain promises to match the successful standard set by other properties within the SBE family. Prescriptive Music is honored to be a part of this achievement, and hopes to continue to contribute to the creative branding of the SLS hotel collection in the coming years. In the meantime, whether you are passing through LA or staying for a while, be sure to check out the SLS at Beverly Hills!
